Ann Robinson, the first woman in
films to help stave off a Martian onslaught, began her
brief but memorable movie career as the youngest stunt
woman in Hollywood. The 17-year-old starlet took to tumbling
in order to attain status in the Screen Actors Guild.
"I was an extra on A Place in the Sun,"
she recalls. "Fortunately, George Stevens said, 'Who
has a SAG card here?' and I raised my hand immediately
because a lot of the extras weren't interested. I was
lucky enough to be standing near Mr. Stevens. He said,
'Okay, stand over here, and when Liz Taylor walks through
the door, say 'Hello Angela.' That was my debut."
