Throughout the late forties and
early fifties, when casting directors put out the call
for a cute, precocious kid, slightly irascible, always
endearing, more often than not Jimmy Hunt won the role.
"I guess I have the distinction of having the most
movie parents of any child star," Hunt recalls
with a chuckle. Scarcely
a Baby Boomer escaped the spell of the storybook sci
fi classic Invaders From Mars, vicariously
halting a Martian invasion through the acting talents
of Jimmy Hunt.
B MONSTER:
Are you surprised that you're remembered for Invaders
From Mars after all
these years?
JIMMY HUNT: I
always thought that [films] like Lone Hand and
Cheaper By the Dozen and all those movies were
much better than Invaders From Mars. Of course
those movies, they come and go, but Invaders From
Mars goes on and on and on.
