Edward Kemmer, who starred in a string of memorable B movies, grueling live television programs and innumerable soap opera episodes, knows firsthand the money-saving secrets employed by B-movie impresarios. "I did many a script where the writer came on stage and apologized, saying, 'They only paid for a first draft.' Writers weren't paid to polish a script," Kemmer points out. "A first draft can be terrible, while a fourth draft can be great. A lot of first drafts were filmed."
